“But those who still reject Me are like the restless sea, which is never still, but continually churns up mud and dirt.
‘There is no peace for the wicked’ – says my God’ (Is 57:20, 21)
There are only two groups of people in this world. They that have peace, rest and joy; these are called the children of God. Then there are the children of the devil who are wicked and rebellious. They are troubled, restless and worried continuously. They may be skillful in hiding the truth, with fake smiles and confident words. But inwards they are tormented by a hopeless future and the vision of a downward spiral to hell.
‘The wicked are like the waves of the sea’…. What causes these waves? It is the effect of the wind, passing on the waters. There is friction between them. Some energy of the wind is transferred into the water molecules and it ‘drags’ them along the path of the wind. The waves cannot make the waters cross their God’s given boundaries; they cannot change the sea into a river. They can only shake the waters up and down, creating the waves. The height of the waves is according to the power of the wind.
Spiritually speaking, there are evil spirits ‘troubling’ the waters. The word ‘wind’ and the word ‘spirit’ is the same in Hebrew. The rebellious are under the influence of demons. They torment them day and night, dragging their soul and body into a constant state of anxiety and restlessness.
There is a medical condition called ‘generalized anxiety disorder’. It is like living in hell on earth. About 3% of all people are afflicted with this abnormal mental state. It is more common among middle class women, especially if they are single, separated, divorced or widowed. They worry more than men about the cares of this world. They worry of what people say about them and their children. They worry about food, clothes and health. The symptoms are varied and sometimes conflicting, but generally these people experience chest and abdominal pains, headaches and difficulty in breathing; there is muscle or mental tension, sleep disturbance. Their mind goes blank and they have difficulty in focusing; they are easily angry, they fear of going crazy or dying. They are always restless, unable to relax. They have difficulty relating to others. They easily doubt good news or words of encouragement. They believe negative stories of failure and disaster. Their anxiety can spread to the whole family; soon, all the people around them start feeling tense, worried and hopeless to change their circumstances.
There is no easy solution or treatment. Just rest at home, money or a vacation will not solve the problem. These people need to see that only Jesus Christ is the answer. The only solution is to come to the Cross, to repent of sins, become born again and be filled with the Holy Spirit! Then there is a place for deliverance, to reject the evil spirits that shake the soul. You have to make a choice between sin and peace; between rebellion or wickedness and rest of mind. You cannot have both!
As for you, child of God, be grateful for the peace of God in your soul, for as you can see, not all men have it. Be grateful for the rest of mind, for sweet sleep, for the simple, beautiful life God has designed for you!
Your enemies are evil and wicked. They persecute and mock you…They may look stronger than you, boasting about wealth and social status. But remember, their heart is restless and they do not have the power to stop that torment! They cannot enjoy the very riches the boast about. Never envy the wicked, for they cannot be established in life.
The solution is to become a mature believer, to trust God not just for salvation but for the eternal assurance and joy of it. Speak the truth in love and confront the powers of darkness. Deliver your soul, in the name of Jesus! Do your own share of service in the body of Christ. Never get tired in serving God and the brethren. Good, faithful service will bring confidence and assurance of great reward in the future. Christ in you is the true, eternal hope of glory. God is with you, providing for all your needs…you are never alone…then why worry? Why fear? Why reject the hope that He offers in His Gospel?
As for me, my heart is fixed, nailed with Christ on His cross, trusting the Lord! All the waves of the sea, all the winds passing by, cannot shake my confidence that Christ has saved my soul! Jesus is my Savior and he is my Rock! Many years ago my Lord Jesus has removed the evil battery from my heart, that old, familiar center of anxiety and worry. I testify today that by God’s grace: I am worry free!
All the praise and glory forever to the King of heaven!
Amen!
It is a constant prayer to truly trust in the Lord with everything… in that comes the peace that chases away the worries of the world. I bless God for every day that I am worry free.
