I read the interview of a missionary to Mexico. He said that there is an area over there where natural hot and cold springs of water are found side by side. The women from that village go and wash their clothes in the hot pool and then rinse them in the cold spring. So he told them: ‘I am sure you are grateful to God for providing such a luxury’. One of them answered: ‘God could have done more than this. He could have freely provided the soap for us too…’
‘In the last days men shall be ungrateful’ (2 Tim 3:2). We live in what the Bible calls the last days. It is a dangerous time for sin begets sin and spreads fast from one man to another. To be ungrateful means to receive gifts casually, to take the Giver for granted; to use something without saying thanks; to fail to show appreciation; to be insensitive to the feelings of the one who blessed you. It means to grieve the Holy Spirit for lack of gratitude for your very breath.
The natural man is born ungrateful. We are to repent of this ugly and shameful sin and learn to say thank you, from the heart. We are to be grateful to God and to the men He uses to bless us!
Ungratefulness in the heart is a major hindrance for God to answer your prayers (Phil 4:6).
Thanksgiving belongs to God (Rev 7:12)
“Give thanks always for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1Thess 5:18)
Amen!
