THE Woman – The Well – The Water – The Worship

HAPPY WITH CHURCH TONIGHT
THE WOMAN – THE WELL – THE WATER – THE WORSHIP‘Jesus declared: “Believe Me, woman…” (Jn 4:21)

Jesus ‘left Judea’. His own people ‘received Him not’. He goes to Samaria for a particular mission. O…the sovereign grace of God!

The Jews detest the Samaritans and had no dealings with them. According to the Jews, they are not worthy of heaven. But Jesus goes there to meet with a (low class) woman.

She was married 5 times and now living with the sixth man. She was a failure, according to men. She was an outcast of the outcasts.

Jacob’s Well

She comes to draw water at noon, in the heat of the day. She is ashamed and afraid of people’s looks and gossip. She thinks she will be alone at the well. But there she meets THE MAN, our Lord. He was seated alone by the well, tired and thirsty.

The word ‘tired’ means weary from burden and toil. Jesus had the burden of souls from the beginning of His ministry. His people rejected His message. But this woman believes that He is the Messiah! As simple as that, just like with Lidia, the Holy Spirit opens her eyes to believe that this ‘tired’ Jew is the Anointed One, the Son of God who will tell us ‘everything’ we need to know! He will reveal our sins and present Himself as the ONLY Solution!

This is the work of the Holy Spirit! In the absence of this work, the religious builders build in vain!
The woman becomes saved by the Word of the Master! She abandons her ‘secular’ bucket, and forgetting all about shame and fear, she runs to her village to call all men to meet with Christ. Against all odds revival starts and the river of life makes its way into the desert of Samaria…Jesus is Lord!

“Fill my cup Lord, I lift it up Lord, Come and quench this thirsting of my soul, Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more, fill me cup, fill it up and make me whole…”
