LIKE MOTHER, LIKE SON
This is our grandson, Oliver. I remember a sweet story about his mother, our daughter, Jemine Leigh Oakes (I sometimes call her Jimmy). I want to send her this note of love:
“Dear Jimmy, I remember something about you… many years ago… you were about 5 years old… We were living in a poor neighborhood at that time… I did not allow you to go and play outside with the children of the ‘rough’ neighbors…
About that time, I was teaching you the Word of God. One day you sneaked and went outside… Sometime later I did not find you in the house… I became worried… I went outside and found you there… my worst fears came true…you were sitting in a pool of mud with the ‘rough’ children… Upset, I commanded to to go inside to take a bath… I asked you: ‘why did you do that?’ You answered me thru the very Bible verse that I thought you that week. You said: “Malia, the reason why I sat with the children in the mud is because Jesus said: “I should love my neighbor as I love myself”
That answer was brilliant! I could not shout anymore… The anointing in your words saved you from spanking and thought me a great lesson!
I see that your son Oliver likes muddy pools too… It is surely a sign of love! God bless you all!
Love from Malia!”
