LET JESUS PAY YOUR ‘SALARY’!

If your labor is big or small, visible or invisible to men, well paid or unpaid by men…if you work as an academician or as a house wife…the secret of true success is to believe that you work in God’s presence, to believe that He sees you as you work, to desire that God receives glory thru your labor…then He will bless the work of your hands and will reward you much more than you can imagine!
“Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men, knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [and not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [real] reward. Henry Dunant (1828-1910)

Henri Dunant was a Swiss businessman and social activist. His life is most interesting; a story of contrasts, of great achievements mixed with the lowest valleys of despair. He dined with kings and slept on the streets with the homeless. This is the story of a prodigal son, a story of a proud self- seeking man who finally, after much loss and pain, made peace with God.
He was born in Geneva, Switzerland into a wealthy Christian home. He surrendered his life to Christ at the age eighteen. Immediately he started preaching the Gospel. He went regularly to the prison to share his faith with the inmates. He also went to preach to young people like himself. At the beginning, they gathered in the woods, later, with the approval of his parents he invited these young people to his house to have home fellowship there. This meeting grew to become the first YMCA (Young Men’s Christian Association) in Switzerland. The Holy Spirit blessed his efforts and with time, it spread all over the world.
(Today, more than 125 countries have branches of YMCA. The vision for YMCA is primarily a place for homeless young people; however, it offers a broad range of programs such as Bible studies, sports, personal fitness, child care, overnight camping, employment readiness, advice services, immigrant services etc.)
Dunant became a bank manager in Geneva. He was known for his extraordinary skill of diplomacy and organization. His Bank sent him to Algeria in Africa to start a branch there. This is a new place for him. Algeria was a rich country, a colony of France. Most of the population was uneducated. His job on behalf of his bank was to buy land, to organize the development of mines, to build factories, homes and farms. Under his leadership, his bank owned over 50,000 acres of land.
But sadly, from this time on he starts to backslide from his faith. Against his Bank’s chief rules, he used his money to buy land for himself. He used his connections with the government and invested all his money into land in Algeria. He now owned over 1000 acres of land for himself. In Geneva, most people were Christians and they did not like to be extravagant with their wealth and social status. But in Algeria, no one could restrain him. This personal business in Algeria cost him his job. He was now on his own, free and ready to become one of the richest men at the time. He used all his money to build luxurious estates and factories on his land. The only thing that was missing was the government approval to the access of water.
Then trouble started for him. With all his connections, the government refused to grant him that. Without water, the whole investment was useless. He decided to go to Europe and meet with Napoleon, the king of France to ask him for the approval of water supply in Algeria. Napoleon’s chief of staff was his good friend. He was told that Napoleon is on the battle field, in war with Austria. The battle was fought at Solferino (in today Italy). Dunant, seeking an audience with Napoleon, had to witness the three days of battle. The French won but thousands of people died. For Dunant, this experience was a nightmare. He forgot about his business problems and thought of a method to help the 40,000 wounded men, from both sides, lying all over the place in the mud. He called the villagers and improvised first aid methods to help. Out of this tragedy, he later wrote a book that became the inspiration for the organization called the Red Cross. He went all over Europe to ask the heads of state to approve and sponsor his vision and newly founded organization. It will be a politically neutral organization, helping the victims of war all over the world. All the men he talked to gave their approval and this is how Red Cross started.
But then, his financial problems hunted him. Napoleon promised to help but he forgot about it. At last, he lost all his money and his good reputation. He had to declare bankruptcy. His assistant advised him to resign his leadership from the Red Cross and the YMCA, saying that his personal failure will be a liability to these organizations. Grudgingly, he did so.
He now lost everything. He went to Paris for a time and slept under the bridges, a homeless broken man. His family and most of his friends abandoned him. Some far relatives contributed money and paid it into an account where his creditors could not have access. He went back to his home country, to a little Swiss village called Heiden. That is where he lived, in an old people’s home to the end of his life (the house is now a museum).
In 1863, a reporter ‘discovered’ him and wrote an article that the original founder of the Red Cross is still alive. At that time, his successor at the Red Cross, who betrayed him, was on the list to receive the Nobel Price for peace. They made investigations and discovered that Dunant was alive indeed. In an extraordinary turn of events, he was called to receive the first ever Nobel Price for peace. The money he received for this honor was paid in his account but he never used it until his death.

In that old people’s home rejected by the world and abandoned by his friends, Dunant slowly remembers his Best Friend Jesus who said: ‘I will never leave you, never forsake you!’ Far away from the scenes of worldly success and disgraceful failures, he goes back to his Lord pleading for mercy once more. He lays his sins of ambition and worldly fame at the foot of the Cross. He founds again the joy of walking with God. The prodigal son has returned back to his father.
He died as an old man having made peace with God. His last prayer was the same with David’s own:
‘Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: According to Thy loving -kindness remember Thou me, For Thy goodness’ sake, O Jehovah’ (Ps 25:7)

This song was composed by Horatio Spafford in 1873 following the most painful event of his life. He was waiting for the ship bringing his wife Anna and their four daughters. The sheep sank not too far from shore. Only his wife survived and sent him a text message: ‘Saved alone’. In his grief, the Holy Spirit encouraged him by giving him this song, word for word. This song describes the true Gospel of Christ Crucified, the power of God unto the salvation of souls. Read and meditate on its words…

God’s ways

ROMANCE ME LORD, LOVER OF MY SOUL…

I prepared my sermon for this evening prophetic ‘Saturday- class’ I also prayed in English and in the Spirit, that our evening’s sacrifice may be accepted by the Lord.
With my hand on the handle, in front of the door, ready to go, I quickly reviewed my notes once more.
Then suddenly I felt the hush of the Spirit blowing over me. He said: ‘This evening, like Cinderella and her prince, you shall forget the mundane…for we shall dance together…’ I smiled and said ‘Thank You Lord…’
I don’t know why, but for a moment I thought He was joking…
We started the service with prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to come. We declared our need for Him. Then we praised God with all our heart. The children started dancing round about the sanctuary. I went up to the altar. I was still waiting for ‘my slot’ to preach my sermon. I forgot about the promised romance. I thought the people needed some ‘head food’. Only God knew their hearts were just dry and thirsty for a fresh visitation, for an encounter that cannot be described with human words. No sermon of mine could have been enough. They needed something that only God can give. They needed life and joy and love.
Microphone in hand, ready to preach, suddenly this song came to me ‘out of the blue’ heavens…’Dance with me Lord, lover of my soul…’ I could feel the anointing lifting me up, the worship team followed and we just started singing in the Spirit, again and again…’The Lover of my soul is coming to me…Closer and Closer He comes…over the mountains of troubles, over the hills of grief…Closer and Closer He comes…I see You…I see You…I touch You…I touch You…I love You…I love You…Dance with me Lord, Lover of my soul, to the song of all songs…’ The anointing came as a rushing river of life, fearful praises, His glory kissed our faces…we danced floating round about, the old and the children, the fat and the slim…who cares…for He calls me Beautiful…in His eyes, I am beautiful…’
I cannot describe the scene… how souls fell in love with Jesus… for the mountain of transfiguration is only for them that long for the climb, miss the heavenly cloud and play on the angels’ harps…

MARY JONES (1784-1864) – THE GIRL WHO LOVED HER BIBLE

‘I have treasured the Words of His mouth more than my necessary food’ (Job 23:12)
Mary Jones was a true woman of God. Not many people have heard of her story but she is one of God’s beloved saints. She was born in a very poor but committed Christian family in Welsh. She became converted to Christ at the age 8. She was ten years old when she prayed that God will give her heart’s desire. She did not pray for a doll, for a dress or for new shoes. These were the two things she desired the most: to be able to go to school so that she can read and write and also that she may have her own personal Bible in Welsh language. Both these things seem impossible gifts. There was no school and no teachers in her village. Both her parents were illiterates. Then God moved in His own special way…
Few months later, ‘a mobile’ school started in a caravan, about two miles from her village. Mary was so excited and begged her parents to be allowed to go there. Her parents agreed and so little Mary trekked to school daily. She had to work very hard at home too. She was so hungry to learn that she became the best in her class. Then she decided to work and make money to buy her own Bible in her native Welsh language. Apart from her daily chores at home, Mary Jones sold honey, did baby seating, sowing and picked fire wood for her neighbors. She was paid half penny per day. She dropped all the coins into a clay jar made by her father. She saved all her money and she never spent any for pleasure for 6 years.
She wanted a Welsh Bible. These were very rare and expensive. For example, in her village, only the pastor had one. At 16 years old she asked her parents’ permission to go to Bala, a city 25 miles away, to buy a Bible. She had to trek barefooted from morning to evening (she had just one pair of shoes and she used it only for special occasions, not for such a long trek).
She went to the house of Reverend Charles Thomas who sold Bibles. She told him that she needs a Bible and that she has saved all her money for the past 6 years. The reverend initially refused her, saying that all his Bibles have been booked by others. She fell down and wept and wept… Rev. Charles then shouted: ‘It was not possible to give you a Bible today, but… for Christ sake…I have to do it! ’ This is how she got her Bible. She then had to trek back home with the treasure in her sack.
This scripture applies so well to her:
‘The LORD gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly’ (Ps 84:11)

After the death of her parents, she married Thomas Lewis, a weaver, like her father. He too was a poor man, but rich in grace and a true spiritual partner. They had 6 children. Only one survived to be an adult. They were poor materially but very kind and generous. Both parents and children worked hard, they gathered all their money in a family purse called ‘the treasury’.
She made money from taking care of bees. She said that each time she came back from travel the bees will welcome her as a hero. They will land on her body by the hundreds and ‘buzz’ praises to God. Not once was she even stung by a bee.
Their family ‘law’ was this: what can we do without? What can we let go for Christ sake? For example, one daughter wanted a hat with a ribbon. She got the hat but sold the ribbon to add money to the treasury. Parents and children, they almost never had any luxuries. They sent all their savings as a contribution to the Bible Society, for the translation and distribution of Bibles to poor countries all over the world.

Rev. Thomas Charles who sold the first Bible to her was so touched by her passion for the Word of God that he founded the British and Foreign Bible Society. It was founded by rich Christian people who had the same vision, to distribute Bibles to the poor people, in their language. Mary Jones was the inspiration of it all. Millions of Bibles have been translated, printed and distributed all over the world, up till today. Who knows how many souls were saved, how many marriages were restored, how many children learned to obey their parents, how many dreams were born and fulfilled…all these because of a poor girl called Mary Jones, who like Job, loved the Word more than her daily bread.
She was poor all her life. She died as a poor old blind widow. Yet despite all her hardships and troubles, her Christian faith held to the end, and she was noted for her faithfulness to the Calvinistic Methodist church in Bryn-crug, her village.
To the world, Mary Jones was an ‘ordinary’ woman. To God, she was a faithful servant of Christ.
Her Bible is now in a museum at the National Library of Wales. In it was found this little poem that she composed:

“This is Jesus’ dear Bible,
Precious gift of God’s right hand;
There we find the rule for living
And the path to Canaan’s land;
There we read our ruin’s story,
Eden’s sad and sorry loss;
There we find the way to glory
Through my Jesus and His cross”

What lessons can we learn from her life and testimony?
*The Bible is the greatest treasure you possess.
*Read, meditate, pray, obey the Word of God!
*Teach your children the Word of God! Your children will not automatically love God just by the reading of the Bile. Recognize grace when it is found in a child. As parents, do everything you can to encourage the grace of God found in your child. Nurture any interest your child has to read the Bible, to pray or go to church! That is divine wisdom!

Snare or Safety

‘Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe’ (PV 29:25)
All men are divided in just two categories: the cowards and the faithful.
The cowards are ensnared and the faithful are free.
The word ‘snare’ in Hebrew means a hidden trap in the valley, in the forest, to catch the animals. The victim is pursued, caught and possessed by the hunter. With time, the victim becomes ‘an apprentice’ to the hunter and the circle of deception and violence increases. If this snare entangles your soul and you cannot move on, you cannot experience true peace or prosperity.
The cowards fear men and all created things. They fear many things: poverty, visibility, rebuke, suffering, loneliness, rejection, the future…
One thing all cowards have in common is that they do not fear God enough! The fear of men overpowers their fear of God.
Practical advice: all your relationships should be placed on the altar of God, in the light. There should be nothing to be ashamed of. All your friends should be free to come and go from your presence, as they please. No person should manipulate your emotions or make you feel guilty for being a friend. Your friends’ opinions should not lead you. Your circle of friends should not be ‘a secret society’. Each person should retain the freedom to continue or to dis-continue the relationship. Christ should be the Center and the Leader. All your decisions, counsels and discussions should give glory to God.
If your respect and love your friends more than you desire to witness for Christ, then you are trapped in a snare; spiritually you are trapped in a bondage. All gossips, all manipulations, all slander, all flatteries and worldliness between friends is a snare and a hindrance to freedom and prosperity. Simply said, if you fear or worship men, you will never prosper!

The faithful are the ones who fear God and trust in Him 100%. They are kept ‘safe’. This word means more than just protection; it means to be promoted, to be prosperous, to be exalted on high, to live on a blessed mountain that is inaccessible to your enemies. It also means to have an excellent spirit that freely moves on without any hindrance.
Some amount of fear of man is acceptable. For example we are commanded to be wise as the serpents. It means to fear unnecessary exposure and withdraw from the wild crowds. We are to be careful to avoid men who reject the Gospel, not throwing ‘pearls to pigs’. But apart from these few examples, fear of man is sinful.
We are to be pro-active in our relationships with people, trusting the leading of the Holy Spirit.
The fear of men affects our preaching, our witnessing for Christ. I heard of soldiers who are very courageous in battle but withdraw and become ashamed when talking to others about their faith.

What is the cure for the fear of man?
*Remember who God is! God is the Creator of all things. God is the Creator of all men. God holds the very breath of the man you fear. I am a fool if I fear man more than God!
*Remember who man is! Man is just a vapor, a shadow, a worm and dust on the floor. Man may brag but he is nothing without God. Man may intimidate with his beauty and success, but man can do nothing without God’s permission.
*Remember: All men are under the control of the Holy Spirit. No matter the threats and the slander, no man can move without God. Pilate thought that he has the power to kill or save Christ. But that power was given to him by God and for His purpose.
*Remember: no temptation is greater than the endurance provided by God, if you just believe.
*Remember: suffering, persecution and rejection is not as bad as the devil wants you to imagine. If God allows that pain, it means that it will eventually be a blessing to you and benefit your soul.

A personal note: each time I meet a new person, I declare ‘my stand’ for Jesus from the very beginning. I preach the Gospel to all men that come close enough to hear my words. I do not want them to say that they have been deceived by me, by my silence! I do not waste time in declaring my stand for Jesus!
When confronted with the Word of God, men will react in three ways:
*they get angry and leave;
*they mock me and leave;
*they listen, believe and get saved.
It is not for me to decide what my listeners should do. Of course, I tell them that the best is to believe, but if they chose another way, I too I am prepared. I do not get disappointed or depressed in the face of rejection. I do not fear their words, their body language or mocking laughter. I do not ‘beg’ people to accept Christ or be my friends. Both Christ and my friendship are more than gold and they are the ones who miss it. Anyway, no one can be my friend if that person is not a faithful humble obedient disciple of Christ. I please God and if I have to, I am ready to dis-please men. But for anyone who listens to the words of life from my mouth, and comes to Jesus to be saved, there is much rejoicing in heaven, on earth and in my soul.

Your rib is waiting…

More than half of the world’s population is made of women. Marriage is not as common these days. The divorce rate is increasing. So many bad stories…But do not despair! God invented the institution for marriage. He said that it is not good for the singles to be alone for too long (Gen 2:18)
Young man, you have to search among women to find your own ‘rib’. God has to be with you to successfully find your own wife among billions of women. God has to be with you, to protect and guide you, so that you do not get confused, you do not get lost in sin or backslide, as you are preparing for the next season in your life.
For all successful marriages, I say: ‘Well done!’
For the single brothers: do not panic, trust the Lord with all your heart and He will make your path straight.
For the single sisters: do not panic, trust the Lord with all your heart and He will make your waiting easy!
You do not need money to marry! You do not need strength or beauty! You need faith in God! I am old enough to encourage you with these words: “God will do it!”
Your ‘missing rib’ is waiting, young man…Move on!
“If you find a wife and you have found a good thing; it shows that the Lord is good to you” (PV18:22)

Disappoint your fears!

Dear Child of God, when you feel afraid of what other people can do to you, remember that God has ultimate control over your life. However, it is important to note that in order to expect God’s protection, you must be in God’s presence.
‘He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
In order to confidently rest in God’s shadow, you must live, you must abide constantly in His presence, you must walk in the Spirit. Practically, it means spending time with God, reading His Word, praying, doing ministry and obeying His commands.
Whether the people coming against you are terrorists or just your neighbor, remember that it is God who protects you!
‘The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?’ (Psalm 118:6).
Do not worry about your enemies! If you still want to worry, then ‘worry’ about this life saving revelation: ‘is God with me or not?’ The answer to this question determines your victory of your failure!

The most important spiritual principle to overcome the fear of circumstances is this:
Safety is not found in the absence of danger, but in the presence of God!!!
“I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety” (Ps 4:8)
In every situation, there are always two stories—the story you (and even your enemies) see and the story God sees! Selah!
For example, Joseph was wrongfully accused of adultery with Potiphar’s wife. He was sent to prison. That is the story everybody knew about. But God was preparing His servant to become the prime minister thru the prison ministry. In God’s time, Joseph was vindicated and promoted supernaturally by God Himself who worked non-stop ‘behind the scenes’.
But the best example is the Crucifixion of our Lord. Herod, Pilate, the Pharisees and the devil behind them rejoiced at the sound of the hammer nailing Jesus on the Cross. They did not know that at that very moment God was manifesting the greatest story of redemption and love this universe has ever seen. The so called tragedy of the Cross became the door of righteousness and eternal life for millions of souls who believe.

When your life seems to be a major disaster; know that God has bigger plans to use your life for greater things. The story you see may not reflect the long-term story God has planned for you. Therefore, trust God, knowing that He works for good in all your circumstances, pleasant or not (Romans 8:28). Trust and praise God, for He has not yet finished with you! Rejoice, for the devil is ignorant of the greater purpose of God for you! Have faith in God! He knows his job! God never fails! God has the last say in your life! In Jesus name, Amen!

Redeem the time!

“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity (redeem the time) in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do” (Eph 5:15-17)
Life is a mystery. You cannot live successfully and happily, except you are born again and filled with the Holy Spirit.
We are commanded to wisely ‘redeem the time’. What does it mean?
To redeem it means to greatly value something that I lost, and now, I am ready to pay the price to buy it again. I buy back something that was mine. I re-purchase something by paying for it a second time. To redeem it also means to free something from the consequences of sin. The desire to redeem comes from your appreciation for its value. It is because I love something I lost, that is why I am ready to pay for it the second time.
God has redeemed us from the curse of sin by sending Jesus to die on the Cross for us.
The days are evil because we live in a fallen world. It is not that Monday is more dangerous than Tuesday, for example. But we live among selfish, greedy, ungrateful people who waste their time on earth and think nothing of their souls.

A heart of wisdom knows the value of time on this earth and the value of eternity. Time is a gift of God. It is a grace gift. We do not merit even a second of life. If our life is short or long, the truth is that God gives us enough time to fulfill our destiny on earth. We have to pray and find that holy path. Each step in accordance with God’s will for my life means that I redeem my gift of time. As I follow the lead of the Spirit, I multiply my seconds on earth and start to taste eternity. I lose the fear of old age or even death. Redeeming the time ends in great joy.
God will demand an account for the way we spend our allotted time on earth. We have to use our time to seek God, to invest in the Kingdom of God, to worship God, to save souls and to bless others.
It is great wisdom to know how to manage your time on earth. The devil fights that wisdom. There are dangers and hindrances directly connected with time management. Each day is unique and it can never be repeated. You can waste time in doing worldly, fleshly things that profit nothing. The root of this waste of opportunities can be too much sleep, watching TV or Computer too much, being idle or day dreaming.
The Holy Spirit directs your activities and if you are attentive to His voice, you will use all available opportunities wisely and efficiently. For me, the spiritual things have priority always. Let’s say I am cooking and my phone rings with a request for counsel or prayer. I always put off the fire and abandon the pots as they are. I forget ‘the pepper soup’ at whatever stage it is. I give all attention to this open door of the Spirit to plant seeds producing fruit that abide forever. I can never tell an anxious soul looking for Jesus that I am not available because the dust on the table has to be removed. I also pray that God makes me more efficient with my house chores. He has answered my prayer. I waste very little time in cooking for example, for these days I make almost no mistakes in that area. This is a miracle for most of the time I cook Nigerian food, something that is so different than my ‘native’ Romanian food. I am almost like a computer in the kitchen. I can organize my time. I know how many minutes will pass between boiling the meat and adding the salt. To cook stew it takes longer time, so I plan it wisely. For example, I cook stew in the evenings after I finished all my spiritual ‘assignments’ for the day. In this way, cooking is like entertainment and relaxation for me. Just in case you ask, my God likes my prayer time and my husband likes my cooking. At the end of the day, I can sleep thanking God for allowing me to serve Him in so many ways, all in the space of only 24 hours. Jesus’ yoke is easy indeed!
Another enemy of redeeming the time is procrastination. This means to habitually postpone doing something that has to be done. The flesh hates to do the things of the Spirit and will use any excuse to postpone prayer, the study of God’s Word or spiritual ministry. I ‘beat up’ my flesh; ‘I force’ myself to read the Bible daily. I do it in the morning, when my body and mind are at their best. I tell myself that if I like it or not, I shall read my daily allotted portions of scriptures. I do not depend on my emotions or my moods. I force myself to read and pray. With time, little by little this spiritual burden became a joy and a fulfillment. Like anything in this life, the beginning is hard, but if you persevere, you shall reap a great harvest. I cannot describe in words the happiness I experience when I can master something that was ‘impossible’ for me before.
Some other practical advice:
Plan your day in advance. It is said that one minute of planning will save an hour of labor later.
Pick the right time for the right thing to do. Give priority to spiritual things above the natural things.
Perform! Do not procrastinate!
Have peace with God and with yourself!
Lastly, give thanks to God for your life and rejoice always!

The Grace of Justice

“Everyone wants the good will of the ruler, but only from the Lord can you get justice” (PV:29-26)
Are you in a situation when you feel discriminated? Are you working hard and nobody notices? Your boss is supposed to protect your interests, but he even forgets your name? Did you prepare well for an exam and others who read less than you took the first place? Did anyone raised your hopes for a promotion…but then forgot about the promises? Are you a house wife, a single mother, a single father, working from morning until night…giving and giving again…and no one is grateful for all this labor of love? How many times you faced the mountain of dirty dishes or dirty laundry? Are you there in this world, doing your best, but it is now many years since any one bought you a gift, a bottle of perfume, or a box of chocolates? Do you work over-time but there is nothing at the end of the month to compensate for your care? Do you feel lonely, unloved, depressed, poor, ugly or even dying?
Then come to God! Come to Jesus! The pain is a sign post directing you to come to Jesus! Do not waste it! Jesus is the only One who knows the hate of this world but overcame it by His Blood! No man can ever give you a fair trial, a fair job, a fair marriage, a fair life! No man can compensate, promote or vindicate you like Jesus! This is the truth! Even if you search the whole universe, you will still have to come back to this Word of Truth! Why waste your time by trusting ‘big men’?
There is no need to weep for lack of human ‘connections’. No need to desire the friendship of the millionaire behind the high fenced palace! Most rich people are wicked, greedy and selfish. Forget that judge, that lawyer, that promoter!
Go to God! God loves you! Give your life to Him and He will change your heart, your marriage, your home, your ministry, your office. Jesus is the Judge of all men! He brings down one and promotes another! God does what He pleases! No one can stop Him! Trust God to the end and the justice of your cause shall shine like the noon day!
Arise and shine for your light has come and the glory of the Lord is already risen upon you! (Is 60:1).
There shall be radical change of situations! The poor and the oppressed shall be satisfied with plenty and the rich shall go away empty! For this is the decree of the Lord!
It is well with your soul!
Worship the King!

The foolish woman

“The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands” (PV 14:1)
This woman is the opposite of the one described above. She may be married with children but spiritually, she is a curse to her family. She uses her mouth and her resources to destroy her marriage and her children. She brings down every good gift God has given to them. She is an enemy to God and a traitor to her family. She is unfaithful and untrustworthy. She does not truly love her husband and her children. She manipulates them all for her selfish gain. She is a busybody and a gossip. She loves fashion for fashion sake. She takes pleasure in seducing other men. He husband feels lonely and rejected. She is proud and restless. She hates her home and dreams of better ones abroad. She compares her ‘foolish’ husband with other men. She is ambitious and rude. All her priorities are wrong. She helps other people, but she neglects her primary assignment, her own marriage and home. She uses sexual intimacy as a tool to gain advantage over her husband. She loves money and material possession. She keeps intimate connections with her natural family, former relationships, secret lovers or ‘spiritual husbands’.
She is a liability to her husband. She likes to travel alone. Her business keeps her away from home and even then, she makes no clear profit. She cheats and manipulates others to make money. She wastes her resources on foolish things.
She loves quarrels and enjoys arguments (PV 27:15, 16). She talks too much. She does not listen to her husband or her children.
She does not forgive her husband’s sins. She does not submit to him except in a fake manner to deceive him the more.
She may be religious, reading the Bible and attending prayer meetings. But she is unable to come to the knowledge of truth and to be free from the bondage of sin (2Tim 3:6, 7). She is a coward and a thief. She is not prepared for the future. She is always panicking and fears bad news. She is not sure of her marriage and of her destiny. She pretends to be bold but she is insecure about her spiritual standing with God. She is ignorant about the Person of God the Holy Spirit. She resists and quenches the Holy Spirit. Her husband’s life is full of mistakes and terror for she is not really praying for him. The husband feels alone at home. Her children are wild and disobedient, advertising her rebellion. She is worldly and her friends are worldly.
The damage done by a foolish woman in her home is so much that even the husband and the children cannot repair it. She will not rest until her house is ‘pulled down’, until there are open fights and disgraceful confrontations. She complains and blames her husband for the trouble in the home. She is not willing to repent to save her marriage. Divorce and chaos is her aim. With the help of evil spirits, she will not rest until the house is completely ruined and the occupants wounded and scattered. She will destroy every shred of peace and joy that was there in the past. With time, she becomes a totally bitter woman, a picture of evil spirits in hell. May God forbid such a story!
‘Heavenly Father, we ask for the grace to be wise women of God, godly wives and mothers! In Jesus name we pray, Amen!’

Be free from un-necessary trouble!

A relationship with a hot tempered, erratic, troublesome man is very addictive. With time, you will think and behave as a victim, as a slave. This is spiritual poison and it will affect all you do! A man who cannot control his temper is an evil man!
Separate your spirit from a hot tempered man! Do not be sorry for his sin! Do not excuse his sin! Do not stand as a security for him! Like coals of fire are carried with metal thongs, show him mercy but always from afar! Let him suffer for his sin so that he may repent and change! Let God ‘handle’ him! Be free! In Jesus name, Amen!
“If someone has a hot temper, let him take the consequences. If you get him out of trouble once, you will have to do it again’ (PV 19:19)

THE WISE WOMAN

“The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands” (PV 14:1)
The main reason why a woman is called wise it is because she is a child of God. She is born again and Spirit filled. In other words, a wise woman fears God and she is trustworthy. Her family trusts her as a person and God trusts her as His servant.
The wise woman is a wife and a mother. She builds her home. It does not matter if she is rich or poor, if her home is a palace or a prison cell. She is the queen of that home, with the authority of heaven to bless it.
Her primary assignment is to be a woman of God, to be a spiritual blessing to her husband and children. Out of the overflow of such a wonderful ministry, she can bless others.
The wife is a spiritual helpmeet to her husband. She helps him spiritually by praying to know God’s purpose for his life. The word ‘helper’ here is very powerful. It is the same word used for the Holy Spirit, a helper, a comforter, an encourager.
A godly wife knows her husband even more than he knows himself for she is the helper in fulfilling his destiny. Without a godly wife, a man is limited in pursuing his God’s given vision for his life. ‘It is not good for man to be alone’ (Gen 2:18). This is God’s verdict. In other words, it is good… it is a great blessing for a man to marry a godly wife chosen for him by God.
The wise woman is first of all a spiritual blessing to her family. She fulfills this ministry by being a student and a doer of the Word of God. Wisdom is the skill to apply the knowledge of the Word of God in daily living. The wise woman is a practical Christian. She has visible fruits of her commitment to God. She is totally surrendered to God. She is a woman of prayer.
She loves God, her family and God’s house. She faithfully attends her local church activities and pays the price for ministry. Her children know without any shadow of doubt, that mummy loves to go to church and pray.
She is a humble and a virtuous woman who has gained her husband’s total trust. She is modest in her choice of clothes, rejecting any appearance of evil. She is confident of the power and beauty of holiness. Her spirit is quiet and humble but also free and adventurous in the safe perfect path of God.
She is a grateful woman, full of thanksgiving to God, for all the gifts and blessings, for her marriage and for her family.
She is industrious and confident that God has blessed the work of her hands. She makes profit from her trade and she invests in new opportunities. Her business expands. She works a little and she makes great profit for God leads her in all her decisions.
She is prudent, detecting danger from afar, and avoiding it. She is cautious of the seduction of darkness and the lusts that aim to destroy her home. She is aware of the existence and attraction of evil spirits. She does not trust herself but God to lead the way. She does warfare and moves from victory to victory. ‘A prudent wife is from the Lord’ (PV 19:14).
The fruit of the Holy Spirit is manifesting in her. She combines them all: love and self-control, patience and joy and kindness…
Her speech reveals the content of her heart. On her tongue there is the law of kindness and grace. She speaks the Word of God to her husband, prays and prophesies over him. She chooses her words. She is wise with the timing, when to speak and when to keep silent. She makes the preaching of the Gospel attractive to her family so that they never feel bored when listening to her.
A happy married woman is a proof that with the help of God, her husband meets all her needs. A godly happy couple is God’s masterpiece. They are a picture of the eternal love story between Christ and His church.
A wise woman is a mature woman. She is totally faithful to God and to her family. She makes her home to be a refuge for her husband from this world of sin. Her home is an oasis in the desert where her family gladly desire to come and be refreshed.
A wise woman is spiritually detached from her natural family connections. Her marriage and children take priority over her natural family. She helps her parents and siblings only as far as they don’t interfere with her home. This is the God’s command:
‘A man leaves his father and mother to cling to his wife and the two become one’ (Eph 5:31).
‘Listen my daughter; forget your people and your father’s house. The king is enthralled by your beauty; Honor Him for He is your Lord’ (Ps 45:10, 11).
A wise wife will help her husband to cleave to her. She is sensitive about the unity of the Spirit and she fights anything that breeches it. She prays and yields her body to achieve total sexual compatibility and fulfillment. She cooperates with her husband’s desire for sexual intimacy. Her bed is ‘a holy ground’, a pure gift from God, totally fenced against the world.
The wise woman has her priorities right. Her relationship with God is always first. She pays the price for a quality time to study God‘s Word and to pray. She seeks God’s will for her life and diligently goes ahead fulfilling it. Her second priority is her marriage. She knows that it is God’s gift and ministry to her. She prays for her husband. She encourages him to fulfill his destiny too. She helps him in all areas where help is needed. She is a good listener, she loves him, forgives him and she makes him laugh. Next to Jesus, she is his best friend. The third priority is her children. She knows that they are entrusted to them by God. She reads the Bible to them even when they are babes. She prays with them and for them. She preaches to them until they discover the reality of God for themselves. She encourages them to serve God. She brings them to church. When they become adults she joyfully releases them in the hands of God and becomes their spiritual mentor for the remaining days of her life.
Lastly, like the wise virgins, she is a woman who intimately knows the third Person of the Trinity. She is filled and lead by the Holy Spirit. She is not afraid of the future for she has the store filled with the oil of the Spirit of life eternal (Mt 25). As her light continue to shine before her family in the darkness of this world, she is quietly confident of her eternal reward from God.
A woman who fears the Lord shall be praised (PV 31:30).

How snakes move

“There are four things that are too mysterious for me to understand:
…a snake moving on a rock” (PV 30:19)
Snakes have four ways of moving around. Since they don’t have legs they use their muscles and their scales to do the “walking”.
Serpentine method: This motion is what most people think of when they think of snakes. Snakes will push off of any bump or other surface, rocks, trees, etc., to get going. They move in a wavy motion. They would not be able to move over slick surfaces like glass at all.
Concertina method: This is a more difficult way for the snake to move but is effective in tight spaces. The snake braces the back portion of their body while pushing and extending the front portion. It is almost like they throw themselves forward.
Sidewinding: This is a difficult motion to describe but it is often used by snakes to move on loose or slippery surfaces like sand or mud. The snake appears to throw its head forward and the rest of its body follows while the head is thrown forward again. (See picture.)
Rectilinear Method: This is a slow, creeping, straight movement. The snake uses some of the wide scales on its belly to grip the ground while pushing forward with the others.

The Bible says that we should be wise like the snakes and walk in the Spirit (1Jn 2:6; Mt 10:16). The snake walks without visible legs, mysterious, quietly and fast. Legs here stand for the flesh (noisy and slow). We should walk lead by the Holy Spirit! No more excuses for spiritual passivity! If the snake can move, you too can move on with your life! Dear friends, you should make progress, in the name of Jesus!

What to do when you need a miracle

We revisit the story of the confrontation between Elijah and the false prophets of Baal on top of Mount Carmel (1Kg 18).
The country has been suffering from draught for more than three years. This was according to Elijah’s word as a sign of God’s judgment upon the people who have forsaken God. It was also a judgment because of the corrupt leadership of King Ahab and his wicked wife Jezebel (in other words, it is like Warri, Nigeria)
Elijah is the only true and faithful man of God in this story. There are three groups of people that he meets in this Chapter.
The first one is Obadiah, whose name means ‘The Servant of God’. He represents the comfortable Christians. He provided food and shelter for the persecuted prophets but he still works for Ahab. With all his labor for God, he was not on the side of Elijah during the mighty confrontation the next day.
The second person Elijah meets is King Ahab. He represents the backsliding Christians. He still believes in Jehovah God but he has compromised his faith by false religions, imported especially by Jezebel, his wife.
The third group are the false prophets of Baal and Asherah ‘who eat at Jezebel’s table’. They are invited by the king to withstand Elijah and prove their worth. It is interesting that Elijah invites them but he does not encourage them at all. He mocks them and disgraces them. There is no mercy, no ‘altar call’ for them. The only way God speaks to these false prophets it is thru the fire of judgment. They are all killed down the slopes of Mount Carmel.
The last group, who meets with Elijah, is the people of God. They have also backslidden and compromised their faith. They still believe in the existence of God but they doubt His power, provision and His promises. It is for their sake that God sends Elijah to confront the devil in their presence. Listen to Elijah’s question:
‘Elijah came near to all the people and said: How long will you halt and limp between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him! But if Baal… then follow him. And the people did not answer him a word’ (1Kg 18:21, AMP)
This is the best description of doubt. The word ‘halt’ in Hebrew means to waver, to vacillate between two opinions, to sway to and forth due to lack of balance, to dance, to limp, to spare something and jump over. It means to hesitate, to stop in mid motion, as a sign of fear, weakness or backsliding. The doubter’s mind is divided into two. It is a complicated, insecure mind. Today, we call this mind -set as ‘inferiority complex’.
The question is this: what is your inferiority complex? In what area of your life you feel insecure, timid or self-conscious? The root of it is doubt! You have to see this revelation, with the help of the Holy Spirit. If not, you cannot be free and strong. No ‘positive confession’ can eradicate the feelings of inferiority if doubt in the power of God is still resident in your heart.
When confronted by Elijah, the doubters keep silent. They do not say a word. This is the classical reaction of religious doubters. They remain passive and do not take risks. They do not utter a word! The Hebrew meaning of this word is a message, a counsel, a decree, a judgment, work or a song. Doubters cannot be true leaders. They are cowards and refuse to take a stand for God. It is only the fire of God’s judgment that will wake them from this religious slumber and bring their hearts back to God!
Lord we need Your fire!
Elijah tells the false prophets to pray for fire on their sacrifice. One of the titles of Baal is the God of thunder and fire. With all the noise and prayers, fire refuses to come. Now it is Elijah’s turn to prove that Jehovah is the Living God, El Anah Esh (the God that answers by fire). Elijah needs a miracle from God. What does he do?
*HE REPAIRS THE BROKEN ALTAR
When you pray for revival, for any miracle, you have to go back and search for any broken places and fences in your life. Look at the quality of your relationship with God, your marriage and your relationships with others. God looks for repairers of broken places (Is 61:4; Ez 22:30, 31)
You need a mind set to be able to repair broken things. In the US people throw away things easily. They are not patient enough to repair them. They replace them with new items. It applies to anything, the refrigerator, the marriage or friendships. In Nigeria people repair broken things. There are people called ‘obioma’ who carry their sowing machines on the shoulder going about mending torn clothes. The shoe repairers are also very busy. God bless Nigeria!
Jesus came to heal the broken hearted (Is 61:1). You need that fresh revelation and His healing touch before you proceed to pray for more revival.
*HE FILLS THE JARS WITH WATER
You need to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Pray specifically for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. It has to be a desperate prayer. Reject doubt and trust the promise of God that he will give you the Holy Spirit (Lk 11:13).
*HE PRAYS AND THE FIRE COMES
You need to know Jesus as the Baptizer with fire (Mt 3:11). Fire is God’s answer. When fire came to the altar of Elijah, it was very clear that it was God’s work. It was not magic. It was open heavens and God coming down. When the doubters saw the fire, they praised God and Elijah shouting ‘The Lord is God!’ (In Hebrew: ‘El-ijah!’).
This fire confirms and establishes you as God’s servant!
*HE KILLS ALL THE FALSE PROPHETS
You need to trust God for complete deliverance from all evil spirits. All covenants with evil spirits have to be confessed and destroyed. Deliverance is not the end; it is a means to the end, which is the miracle of revival!
*HE REMAINS IN HUMBLE, PERSEVERING PRAYER- LOOKING AHEAD
All the success so far did not make Elijah proud. He continued to pray trusting God for the miracle of rain. He looks at the future, not doubting God’s power. Against all odds of disappointment and the doubts of men, the miracle shall come!
*FINALLY, THE MIRACLE CAME: THE BLESSED RAIN ON THE THIRSTY LAND!
(As we said this, big heavy rain started falling outside, making great noise! Was it coincidence? I believe that it was an encouragement for us to trust God even more)
So these are the five steps that you should follow as you trust God for your miracle:
Repair, Fill, Pray for fire, Deliverance and Pray for Rain!

“Confess therefore your sins (of doubt) one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The supplication of a righteous man availeth much in its working.
Elijah was a man of like passions with us, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain; and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months. And he prayed again; and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit” (Jam 5:16-18)

Holy Spirit, touch thru me!
Holy Spirit, love thru me!
Holy Spirit, work thru me!

May God grant your miracle for nothing is impossible with God!
May God grant you revival!
All the glory shall go to God alone!

BIBLE PROVERBS

“Don’t be like the wicked who scheme to rob an honest man or to take away his home. No matter how often an honest man falls, he always gets up again; but disaster destroys the wicked” (PV 24:15, 16)

Are you a wise of a foolish woman?

“The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands” (PV 14:1)
According to the Word of God there are only two types of women: some are wise and some are foolish. No other option!
Before going ahead, let’s analyze these words and their meaning in Hebrew:
*Wise- to be exceedingly wise and skillful, able to teach others
*Woman- a female, a wife
*Builds- to be a strong and sure builder, able to repair damages, successful in ‘obtaining’ children, a fruitful mother
*House- family, children, prison, palace, temple, the inner court
*Foolish- silly, perverse, negative
*Pulls down- total destruction, break to pieces, ruin and overthrow, brings to naught
*Hands- power, means, resources, labor, ministry, sense of direction, creditor, debt, terror, pain, presumption, throwing things
The closer study of these words reveals wonderful truths. These two women are opposites. But on the surface, they look alike, they have something in common. Except for the help of the Spirit, no man can say for sure which is wise and which is foolish.
Both these women influence their homes: one builds up and one destroys it. Their influence is so great that not even their husbands can neutralize it. If a wise woman marries a foolish man, he will not be able to destroy the home. If the foolish woman marries a wise man, she will still be able to destroy the marriage with her words and actions.
The definition of the word ‘influence’ is this: the power to use indirect means to change the minds and wills of others. This is done without using direct force or clear verbal commands. Another word for a negative influence is manipulation. It means to interfere and corrupt the legal authority for personal gain. Like the yeast in the flour, the woman can silently change the atmosphere in her home for better or for worse.
Looking at the words in Hebrew, you can see that both these women are very active in their missions. They have invested time and energy in pursuing their goal. Both have a purpose and they pay the price to invest in it. Both are passionate leaders, great teachers and successful mentors in their own field. Each boasts of great numbers of friends, students and faithful followers.
But this is where the similarities end. For these two women are in all things the opposite of one another: the wise one is godly and the foolish one is evil; one is a blessing and the other is a curse to her family.
May God open our eyes to see the truth!
