Memories light the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories of the way we were
Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another for the way we were…
Memories may be beautiful and yet
So many memories too painful to remember
The way we were!
Can it be that it was all so simple then
Or has time rewritten every line
And if we had the chance to do it all again
Just tell me, tell me, would we, would we?
Could we, could we?
(Jewish poem)

“Bible memorization is absolutely fundamental to spiritual formation. If I had to choose between all the disciplines of the spiritual life, I would choose Bible memorization, because it is a fundamental way of filling our minds with what it needs. “This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth. Meditate on it day and night” (Josh 1:8) The Bible should me in your mouth! That’s where you need it! How does it get in your mouth? Memorization!!” (D. Willard)
